Tracking your X/Twitter interactions: likes, replies, and DMs

How tendX logs likes, replies, and DMs on X. Covers auto-tracking, manual logging, the dashboard, and Google Sheets sync.

What gets tracked

tendX logs three types of outbound interactions:

  • Likes: when you like someone's post.
  • Replies: when you reply to someone's post.
  • DMs: when you send a direct message.

Each interaction is timestamped and tied to the contact you're engaging with. tendX counts each type separately, so you can see exactly how you interact with each person.

Auto-tracking vs. manual logging

Auto-tracking runs in the background while you browse X. When you like, reply, or DM someone who's already in your contact list, tendX logs it automatically. You can toggle auto-tracking on or off for each interaction type from the dashboard settings.

One thing to note: auto-tracking only logs interactions with people you're already tracking. It won't add new contacts on its own.

Manual logging lets you record an interaction yourself from the sidepanel. You can pick the type, set the date, and add a short note (up to 200 characters) for context. Useful for tracking a conversation that happened outside X, or for adding detail auto-tracking can't capture.

The sidepanel

Click the tendX icon in your toolbar while on X to open the sidepanel on the right side of the page.

For someone you're tracking, it shows their username, when you started tracking them, your last interaction, and a list of your five most recent interactions. You can also log a new interaction, open their full history, or write a note to keep context that doesn't fit in interaction history.

For someone new, the sidepanel offers a one-click button to add them to your contact list.

The dashboard

The dashboard is a full-page view you open from the tendX toolbar icon. It has two tabs:

Contacts shows a searchable table of everyone you track. Each row displays the person's profile, when you started tracking them, interaction counts broken down by type (likes, replies, DMs), and when you last engaged. You can sort by tracked date, total interactions, or last interaction. Click any row to see your complete history with that person and edit their contact note.

Settings is where you toggle auto-tracking, connect Google Sheets, and manage your data.

Relationship badges

tendX detects the follow relationship between you and each contact and shows a badge:

  • Besties: you follow each other.
  • Following: you follow them.
  • Follows you: they follow you.
  • Stranger: no follow relationship.

These update when you visit a contact's profile.

Google Sheets sync

You can connect tendX to your Google account and sync your data to a Google Sheet you own. tendX creates two tabs in the sheet: one for contacts and one for interactions.

Sync happens automatically within a minute of any change, or you can trigger it manually. The sheet lives in your Google Drive. tendX never stores your data on any external server.

Managing your data

From the dashboard, you can delete individual contacts or clear everything at once. Deleting a contact removes all their interaction history.

If you uninstall tendX, all local data is removed with it. If you've synced to Google Sheets, that copy stays in your Drive.
