Installation: Chrome extension setup for X tracking

How to install the tendX Chrome extension, pin it to your toolbar, and verify it's working on X.

Install from the Chrome Web Store

tendX works with Chrome, Brave, Arc, Edge, and any other Chromium-based browser.

  1. Open the tendX listing on the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Click Add to Chrome.
  3. Confirm the permissions when your browser asks.

That's it. The tendX icon appears in your toolbar.

What permissions does tendX need?

tendX requests access to x.com and twitter.com so it can open a sidepanel alongside X and detect interactions. It also uses Chrome's storage API to save your data locally, and optionally connects to Google's API if you enable Sheets sync.

tendX never asks for your X login or API access. It has zero access to your account.

Pin the extension

Click the puzzle piece icon in your toolbar, find tendX, and click the pin icon. This keeps the tendX icon visible so you can open the dashboard quickly.

Verify it's working

Open X and visit any profile. Click the tendX icon in your toolbar to open the sidepanel. If it shows the person's username and the "Add to CRM" button, you're all set.

tendX only records interactions from the point of installation forward, so you won't see any data until you start engaging.

First-time setup

When you open the dashboard for the first time, tendX walks you through three steps:

  1. Enable auto-tracking: turns on automatic logging for likes, replies, and DMs. Optional, but recommended if you want tendX to record interactions without you thinking about it.
  2. Connect Google Sheets: links your Google account to sync your data to a spreadsheet you own. Also optional.
  3. Add your first contact: visit someone's profile on X, open the sidepanel, and click "Add to CRM."

Once you've completed these, the checklist disappears and you're ready to go.
